Member Shows

Throughout the year, the Guild, in conjunction with several Charlotte businesses, sponsors juried art shows for the artists in and around Charlotte. These shows provide an opportunity for artists to display their latest creations as well as compete for ribbons and awards. These shows also provide a venue for the public to view, appreciate and purchase from the talented local visual artist community.

Guild of Charlotte Artist:
I was struck by the general sensitivity of the work submitted to the Annual Guild of Charlotte Artist show. The Artist and works that I selected for the best of the show shared a few common attributes; Richness of picture plane, maturity of composition, formal discipline shown in medium and emotional impact of subject as it was enhanced by the hand of the artist. I would encourage the entire community of artist that contributed to this years show to continue honing their craft while being careful not to get comfortable in their approaches. What dwells beyond the "safe" is the discovery of the unknown and there in is the creative process. Best of luck to all and thank you to the guild for this opportunity to be a part of this 2009 show. ~ Edward Burnam

Judith Cutler: "At The Docks" Pastel
"This piece is soft in color and rich in texture, the monochromatic approach Judith has selected has established the overall emotion for this work.
Judith has shown a mature approach to color and texture that leaves me with
a feeling of a cool enticement. "
