GCA Show Guidelines and Rules of Integrity

Artists must follow the Guild of Charlotte Artists Show Rules and Guidelines as follows:

1. There shall be a non-refundable entry fee for all shows that will be announced prior to each show. Membership may be purchased at the time of entry to any show.  Participants must be 18 years of age or older at time of registration.

2. Number of works allowed to be entered will be specified on individual show Registration Form.

3. Artwork must be original in concept, composition and execution, and not in any copyright infringement.  Work done in ANY class and/or under the guidance of an instructor is not eligible for entry. Art must have been completed in the last 3 years, and not previously shown in a GCA show. Works of subjects deemed unacceptable for a venue will be rejected.

4. It is required that works be securely wired and ready to hang.  The GCA recommends the use of D-rings or screw eyes fastened 1/3 of the way down.  Please refer to the tutorial video on the GCA website if clarification is needed.  No sawtooth hangers will be accepted.  Art on canvas less that 1 3/8” in depth must be framed.  Art may be submitted unframed with the condition that the canvas is gallery wrapped and the sides are 1 3/8” deep or greater.  The sides must be painted to complement the painting.

5. The size of the work will be specified on individual show Registration form.

6. Photographs of entries may be used by the Guild for promotions, publicity or GCA history.

7. Once the work is hung, it will remain until the close of the show.  Any sale will take place during the show.  Commissions for sales during the show will be specified on individual show Registration form.

8. No person shall be allowed to speak to the judge during the judging of the show.

The Julianna Watson Merit Award will be awarded at the Fall Show in memory of Julianna Watson.

In the event of anticipated bad weather, please contact the show chair for possible cancellation/rescheduling the show.
